What I Did Over the Weekend
This weekend was really exciting! I got two baby hamsters! We were origionally going to go get a few frogs, but ended up coming home with a baby hamster! On Saturday all I did was watch him roll about the house in his little ball. On Sunday, we went to the pet store to get him an exrcise wheel, and ended up coming back with ANOTHER hamster! At first, when I put them both in the cage they were getting long. But as the day went along, they started to fight more, and when I went to pick one of them up, he bit me! They have been sleeping, while being guarded by my cats, Henry and Emily. After a long time of trying to think of names for the little guys, it finally hit me! Their names are Manny and Buddy and now they are really getting along now! I hope they stay that way!

Matilda
Matilda, by Roald Dahl has 240 pages. It is about an undertreated little girl, who's parents are very mean. The plot of this story is close to the first Harry Potter book. I would reccomend it.

Hiroshima
While the Enola Gay soars in the sky, Hiroshimians pleasantly continue with their business, not aware of what horrible thing is about to happen. Hiroshima, a historical fiction novella by Laurence Yep, which has 56 pages, is very intriguing. It is about America bombing Hiroshima, then helping them to recover after the Americans realize what damage they did. Unfortunately, the Hiroshimians are too scared to go back to America for more help.
One of the strongest points of the book is when the Americans help the Hiroshimians by giving many needed surgeries. A not so strong point is when the Hiroshimians don't go back to America because they are too scared. I would definitely recommend this novella. This book is chalk full of history I wasn't aware of, that people are still dying from today. It was intriguing because every time I turned the page.... MORE ACTION!
I also loved this book because it was interesting. It made me more aware of America's history. I think Laurence Yep did a great job not "morphing" history much, like many other authors do.
I think anyone should definitely read Hiroshima, by Laurence Yep. I loved it!!!!
